The latest current science news is that having walnuts as a major component of the diet can be highly beneficial to males. The science news circuit has stated that in an experiment involving mice, those mice that primarily had a diet that was high in walnuts developed prostate tumors slower than those that did not. The science news circuit has stated that this experiment was carried out under the direction of Paul Davis, who works at the University of California. The study was conducted by observing the diets of mice that were known to genetically develop prostate cancer. The science news circuit says that the normal diet for mice is consumed of 5 percent of calories of fat a day. In order to see what effects walnuts had on the prostate tumor, the researchers increased the diet to 20 percent of calories of fat from walnuts each day. Other mice that were prone to these prostate genetic tumors had a diet increase of 20 percent of fat from other fats. In the current science news reports, the mice that had the increase of walnuts had prostate tumors that developed slower than that of the others.

Although not an exact component for the basis of this particular study in recent science news, walnuts have been shown to be proven in previous science news stories. These science news stories featured the way that walnuts may serve as beneficial to the heart. This is because studies have shown that walnuts can fight inflammation, which allows the blood vessels to dilate. Due to the fact that inflammation often plays a role in any type of cancer, including prostate cancer, this latest current science news story has shown that there can potentially be a double benefit of the consumption of walnuts to those that have cancer.

The current science news story that has been getting much talk lately involves one of the issues that has seemed to appear within science news time and time again. This time, there is a new twist on this current science news story. This is the science news story that involves obesity. Usually, there is an active push in current science news to offer solutions to those that are in the younger age brackets with ways in which they can tackle obesity, but this science news story is a bit different. It encourages those that fall within the older age brackets to take on these efforts to loose weight. The current science news is that those that initiate weight loss at an older age may very well reap the health benefits. This is such a twist to current science news because it has been one of the strong beliefs of many within the scientific community for quite some time now that those that choose to loose weight at an old age is carrying out an act that is unhealthy to their body. The study was conducted with those that were obese, within the 70 year old age range, and who had arthritic knees. The science news states that this was a study that was studied over a long course of time. The elements of study were putting the patients on a special diet, using a combination of diet plus exercise, exercise only, and health education only. The current science news is that the study showed that those that only 15 people had died that were on a weight loss program, in comparison to the thirty that were not. Although this is not the end all, be all, study conclusion on the elderly and weight loss, it has started some rather intense discussions on the matter within the science community.
